Igor Fishelev graduated in physics from Ural State University and continued postgraduate studies at the Institute of Metal Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 1991, he co-founded Link, one of the first joint-stock companies in the region, and served as Vice President, managing investments and foreign economic relations.
In 1994, he joined Mitsui & Co. Ltd., a major Japanese trading company, and by 1995 became head of its regional office in Yekaterinburg. He oversaw international trade operations and worked closely with Russian manufacturers and global partners.
In 2000, he founded Unimatic, supplying industrial equipment and engineering solutions for the machine-building industry. Under his leadership, the company expanded across Russia and the CIS.
In 2018, Igor passed ownership and control of Unimatic to his son, Oleg, and shifted his focus to mentoring and supporting technology startups.
